Dan Murray:
My name is Dan Murray. I was born and raised along with my two brothers and three sisters 8 miles east of Bismarck, North Dakota, on the banks of Apple Creek, not far from where our current kennel operation sits today.
First and foremost I am a family man. My wife and partner Jen, and our four kids, Justin, Abbi, Paige, and Daniel, are my top priorities and first loves. Right after that comes gun dogs, I guess. I have always loved animals, especially dogs. We had a total of three English Springer Spaniels while I was growing up. I spent the better part of my youth either playing basketball in the driveway, or chasing and hunting pheasants, grouse, partridge, and ducks, AS WELL AS my dog, Spencer, whenever we happened upon any of the above mentioned critters. If there ever was a bird dog hall of shame, Spencer would be a charter member. I realize now had he had some good obedience training he could very well have been something special. But as frustrating as he was, had I not hunted with him, I might not have fully appreciated the quality of dog I was later exposed to, and the kind of dog we are committed to turning out here at Absolute Gun Dogs.

I have found myself to be a gun dog trainer’s wife-shoes I never thought I’d own much less happily fill! I was never much of a dog lover. Once we had our four children I surely did not want to have a dog in my house. Then, in 2006, while on a family vacation in Yellowstone National Park, I decided that the best anniversary gift I could give my husband would be to allow a hunting dog into our home. I had no idea what I was getting myself into! Within a few weeks of that trip we picked up Millie, a liver and white Springer out of a litter of 7 pups. She was selected for her good looks (like my husband) but as it turns out she’s pretty smart too (unlike my husband). Millie is our first field champion!
