In 2007 Dan came home with 6 English Cocker Spaniel puppies that were for sale puppies and told me to pick one. I picked the adorable one (again like my husband) that sat in my lap while the rest of them tore up my yard. Dan resisted, sure that I’d picked a dud, but eventually he conceded. ‘Emma’ became dog number two. Emma has also turned out to be very smart (again, unlike my husband) as well as a beautiful English Cocker.

In 2008 we inherited Spencer, a black English cocker. He was an overly affectionate and very energetic boy who was headed in the wrong direction. (much like my husband before he met me). While not exactly a model of restraint or decorum, Spencer has fit in well, and Dan thinks that he’s probably got more talent than any dog has a right to have. Full of boundless joy, everyone who gets a chance to spend some time with Spencer ends up loving him. He’s the penultimate English cocker personality, always the life of the party. (Much like my husband thought he used to be).

Our dogs have truly become part of our family. In the ensuing years there have been many puppies that we’ve fallen in love with and had to let go, but always to great homes.

Spaniels can truly adapt to the wants and wishes of both men and women, hunters, non-hunters, working mothers, and housewives. Our English Springers and Cockers are great hunters, and great companions, and great pets around the house. They are easy to house train, beautiful, and great with kids. The woman who thought she’d never have a dog in the house now has one Springer, two cockers, and 5 baby cocker spaniels! I think this speaks volumes for the breeds, and with the one exception perhaps being Spencer, my husband’s training abilities. You’ve made the right choice with Absolute Gun Dogs..
